Flu Season

Flu season is upon us! This year has been especially rough, with a particularly nasty strain of the virus going around. If you haven’t already gotten your flu shot, now is the time! Even if you’re not usually one for vaccinations, the flu can be a serious illness, and it’s better to be safe than sorry.

There are a few things you can do to help protect yourself from the flu. First, wash your hands regularly and often. This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s one of the best ways to prevent the spread of infection. Second, avoid close contact with people who are sick. If you can’t avoid them altogether, try to keep your distance and limit your exposure. Finally, clean and disinfect surfaces that are commonly touched, like door handles and countertops.

If you do happen to get sick, there are a few things you can do to help ease your symptoms. Drink plenty of fluids, get rest, and take over-the-counter medications like ibuprofen and acetaminophen to help with fever and pain. If your symptoms are severe, or if you have a chronic medical condition, be sure to see your doctor.

The best way to avoid the flu is to take preventive measures, but sometimes even that isn’t enough. If you do find yourself sick this season, take care of yourself and hope for a speedy recovery!
